HARRISBURG – Rep. Catherine Wallen (R-Adams/Cumberland) took the oath of office to represent the 193rd Legislative District during a swearing-in ceremony in the state House chamber today.
“It is a privilege to serve my family, friends and neighbors in the state House of Representatives. Today’s ceremony was a truly humble experience as I pledged my commitment to serve the people of the district in which I grew up,” Wallen said. “I thank the people of the district for putting their faith in me to be their voice in Harrisburg.
“I also recognize the times in which I am coming into office. I believe we are at a crossroads, and we must take the path that leads to prosperity for Pennsylvania and its residents,” Wallen said. “As the newly elected representative of the 193rd Legislative District, I will work my hardest to bring our values of hard work, respect for others and conservatism to Harrisburg.”
Wallen has been assigned to four House committees this session. She will serve on the Children and Youth, Communications and Technology, Intergovernmental Affairs and Operations, and State Government committees.
Wallen has hit the ground running since being elected in a March special election, holding meetings with local officials, residents and organization leaders. She will hold an Open House for district residents at the Abbottstown district office, 282 West King St., Abbottstown, on Tuesday, April 21, from 3-6 p.m. Residents can RSVP by calling 717-259-7805, or going to

The 193rd Legislative District covers parts of Adams and Cumberland counties, including Abbottstown, Arendtsville, Bendersville, Biglerville, East Berlin, New Oxford, York Springs and Shippensburg boroughs, as well as Berwick, Butler, Hamilton, Huntington, Latimore, Menallen, Oxford, Reading, Tyrone, Cooke, Dickinson, Penn, Shippensburg, South Newton and Southampton townships.
