Majority Leader Reed Says House Currently Drafting Revenue Legislation to Complete State Budget

At a press availability in Harrisburg on Friday, House Majority Leader Dave Reed (R-Indiana) said lawmakers are currently working on the revenue bills necessary to finalize the 2016-17 state budget. Reed indicated that lawmakers are prepared to vote on the proposal to increase revenues by 1.2 billion dollars, and will return to send the legislation to the Governor as soon as it is prepared.

Heffley Votes to Send On-Time Budget to Governor

In a broad bipartisan vote on Thursday, the Pennsylvania House passed a state budget for fiscal year 2016-17. Senate Bill 1073 contains no new or broad-based tax increases, and was approved by overwhelming margins in both the House and the Senate. Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) said lawmakers in both parties and chambers worked together to ensure an on-time budget and end taxpayers’ anxiety over another protracted budget battle. Senate Bill 1073 now awaits the Governor’s signature.

Majority Leader Reed Says House Approves a Responsible State Budget that Protects Pennsylvania Taxpayers

In a bipartisan vote, the Pennsylvania House on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved a $31.55 billion state budget that supports the core functions of state government, increases funding for education to historic levels and does not rely on any broad-based tax increases. House Majority Leader Dave Reed (R-Indiana) said the on-time House budget plan represents a significant effort to provide for the future of the Commonwealth while being sensitive to the needs of Pennsylvania’s taxpayers.
